The trooper player characters form a squad that is composed of one or more fire teams.

The squad is lead by a squad leader (Sergeant E-5, 12 Cr/day) and the fire teams are lead by fire team leaders (Corporal E-4, 10 Cr/day). Everyone else is private (Private Second Class E-2, 3 Cr/day or Private First Class E-3, 5 Cr/day).

In the beginning of play, the character with the best Cha in the group is the squad leader. (in case of tie, compare Lead skills and Wisdom). The character with the best Wisdom in a fire team is the team leader.

Later, squad composition may change as all replacement troopers are Private Second Class. Then any character can be assigned as a team leader as needed.
