  • Venom similar to other reptile venoms
  • Many questions remain unanswered

• Plan to capture a live specimen
• There had been sightings in the Allenburg area
• Authorization from USAMRIID to study an epidemic in the area possibly carried by local animals
  • A squad of marines to help with searches
• Search in two groups
  • Robert & Richard + 4 marines
  • Weeden + 3 marines
• No results on first day
• Search continued at night
  • Previous encounter at night-time
• Worryng about Weeden's equipment and survival skills
• Shots fired after midnight
  • The second group had sighted something and tried to shoot it, unsuccessfully
  • Weeden was missing
  • He was found nearby, unconscious
  • Bitemarks matched the size of creature we were looking for
• Weeden had encountered the creature in the dark without realizing what it was
  • He still thought it was a snake
  • He was hospitalized, but luckily his thick leather coat had protected him so he had not been poisoned
